Champion Daylilies
My Favorite Daylilies
Every year hundreds of people ask me what my favorite daylily is. That is such a hard question to answer. I could cop out and say it is the one that is blooming, but most people don't like that answer as true as it is. So, I will do my best to list the cultivars I like the most. Just remember, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.
One thing I can state for a fact is that my biggest selling daylily for the last couple of seasons is
Ruby Spider.

Answering the rest of the question gets a little more subjective.
For a purple shade I like Larry Allen Miller

For a more lavender shade I like Lake Effect

For the yellow it is hard to beat Lemon Parchment

Red is always the most popular color. I am impressed with Born to Run

For a rose color Women Seeking Men is tall, huge and beautiful
Cream/white is the hardest to choose. So, since I'm writing the rules I get two picks.
With a slight green tint I really like Green Mystique
As close to white as I have seen, Michael Miller really stands out

For a pink Natalie Antoinette is spectacular

For a pink with an eye Wild Cherry Round Up is awesome

There are a lot of Oranges I like, but Pumpkin Prince stands out

Now I know this is not a color choice, but the next question you ask is probably what is my favorite double and spider.
Ok, a double I think is really outstanding is Royal Corsage

And, Kay Day is a spectacular pink double

For a spider, I would have to choose Free Wheelin'

And, Heavenly Angel Ice is as white and pretty as they come
My favorite eyed daylily is the bold Walter Kennedy

For a gold Bill Norris remains a long time favorite
For a very different color flower that is truly great and huge,
I find it hard to pass up Irresistable Charm

And, I can't leave the simply beautiful God Save the Queen off of any list

My wife's favorite this year is one of our seedlings.
It's hard to argue with her on that pick
(and of course, all us guys know you'll never win an argument with your wife)

Now, since this is my website, I reserve the right to change my mind.
In fact if you ask me again when they are blooming I'll probably have a different list.
But I tried to give you a fair assesment of my thoughts.
No matter how you look at it, you can't go wrong with any daylily.
