Champion Daylilies

My Favorite Daylilies

Every year hundreds of people ask me what my favorite daylily is. That is such a hard question to answer. I could cop out and say it is the one that is blooming, but most people don't like that answer as true as it is. So, I will do my best to list the cultivars I like the most. Just remember, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

One thing I can state for a fact is that my biggest selling daylily for the last couple of seasons is
Ruby Spider.

Answering the rest of the question gets a little more subjective.

For a purple shade I like Ledgewood's Silver Lining.

For a more lavender shade I like Lavender Heartthrob

For the yellow it is hard to beat Moon Dazzle

Red is always the most popular color. I like Joan Derifield this year.

Cream/white is the hardest to choose. So, since I'm writing the rules I get two picks.

With a slight green tint I really like Green Mystique.

With a little more of a yellow tint I think Mississippi Memories is great.

For a pink it is hard to beat Shores of Time.

For a little bit of a lighter pink Belle Cook is awesome.

There are a lot of Oranges I like, but Pumpkin Prince stands out.

Now I know this is not a color choice, but the next question you ask is probably what is my favorite double and spider.

Ok, a double I think is really unique and outstanding is Holiday Party.

For a spider, I would have to choose Primal Scream.

My favorite eyed daylily is the bold King James.

For a gold Bill Norris remains a long time favorite.

For a very different color flower that is truly great,
I find it hard to pass up Treasure of the Southwest.

And, I can't leave the simply beautiful Sheer Excitement off any list.

My wife's favorite is the outstanding Orchid Blush.

Now, since this is my website, I reserve the right to change my mind.
In fact if you ask me again when they are blooming I'll probably have a different list.
But I tried to give you a fair assesment of my thoughts.

No matter how you look at it, you can't go wrong with almost any daylily.
